Nontraditional wig - Finale

I'm just going to let the pictures do the talking on this one.

Considering making another one,experiment with different hair styles. It was a lot of fun making!

Non traditional bjd wig

I never got around to working on the wig I made for him what seems like ages ago. Never found fibres in the same exact colour and after the triathlon I got a new idea for a wig. Why not make one from out of wired satin ribbon? Already had a wig cap laying around just had to sit down, get the hot glue gun ready, find everything I'd need for the wig, cut out pieces of the ribbon and off to the races!

Started out looking like some jelly/octopus resting atop his head.

Until it all got gathered together.

Then began the fun of adding little curls in the sides, and of course it needed some ringlets in the back!

And then all the fun would begin adding flowers, beads and what have we, sadly I'm too tired to shoot any pictures of all the details, so going to leave you with a teaser - for now. 

Project Wig - So Close, Yet SO Far

Just as I saw an end to this I was so lucky as to run out of fibres. All that's left is add a few more wefts to the top and do the hair parting and I'd have had made my first ever wig. Wasn't to be, and will now have to wait I don't know how long for new fibres to arrive and hopefully they're the right colour. To be extra sure I went ahead and bought from two sellers, one where the colour looked off to what I think was the light they used (but how to be sure?) and the other looked exactly like the fibres I'm working with. Both packages should arrive within the same time frame, and if the one isn't of use, hopefully the other will be.

I am rather pleased with the outcome as it is now. The real test will come when I have to close it off on top, make it look just as neat. Do hope I can pull it off!

The wig isn't missing out on floofyness one bit, love those curls so much! If it looks a bit messy it's because I have yet to comb it out and do a bit of styling. Won't be done before I glue on the last weft and it's thoroughly dried.

For now I will put the wig on hiatus and get started on making the wedding bouquet instead.

Project Wig - Adding Wefts

Have had two finished hard caps laying ready in what feels like forever, and today I then finally sat down to begin the tedious task of gluing on one weft at a time and slowly build up the wig.

I've never made anything like this before, but I feel like I'm on the right track. Looks like it too, to me at least. Hadn't made enough wefts, so this is as far as I got with what little I had prepared.

I still have to decide whether I will make it with bangs, or simply part it in the middle somewhere.

I will make a second one once I finish up on the current one. The second wig will be a big'ish Rococo inspired one, with plenty of bead strings, mulberry flowers, and glittering montees/rhinestones. Will be fun trying my hand at putting that one together!

Project Wig - Making the hard cap

Making my first ever hard cap! I’m so excited it’s ridiculous xD

Need to add another layer of glue tomorrow and then wait for it all to dry completely before I can take it off and cut to fit. Will also be fiddling around with making wefts tomorrow to have them ready for when the wig cap is ready.
