BJD Dealers on Ebay - signal boost!

As I found a need for it, seeing as people are so easily duped on eBay and will perhaps buy a recast by mistake, because, let’s face it, there are a ton of BJDs listed on eBay. You might find a neat deal and someone new to the hobby will jump the gun and burn their fingers. You don’t always know if a given seller will sell you the real deal or a fake and this is a nice way of gathering all known official dealers into one to make things more manageable.
So here you are, a small list compiled of official BJD dealers on eBay!
Dealer for: Akagi, B&G, DollChateau, Ringdoll, GemofDoll, among others
Dealer for: Doll-Love, FectDoll, Kinds-Sky among others
Dealer for: MyouDoll, CloverDoll, MysticKids, Maskcat, and BlossomDoll
Dealer for: AOD, IslandDoll, Only-Doll, NT-Doll, among others
Dealer for: GEN X
If anyone’s got some more to add to the list, do hit me up with a note or pm so that I can add it to the list! :)

BO - MysticKids Oscar WS

It's been ages here I last did a BO like this, always just gone right ahead and opened the box and shot some pictures later, don't know what was different this time around. Perhaps because I've really been looking forward to receiving this kiddo? Perhaps because I got almost no sleep last night because I was all excitedly laying thinking of him arriving in the mail today? Perhaps that made me want to shoot up a string of pictures to share, oh, and the fact that there aren't a whole lot of pictures of this sculpt, at least I haven't come across all that many.

So, back to what really matters here, the box, and what is inside of the box!

Obligatory box-within-a-box

And the box-out-of-a-box

Got him with his fullset clothing and shoes, had ordered a wig as well which didn't fit, all thanks to wrong measurements stated by the company, no Bueno. MK boy dolls have a head measuring 17cm not 18,5cm. Oh well. And a furry white burrito owo

And out of said furry white burrito this little handsome guy, all interfitted with a pair of undies, didn't know they did that, but hey, awesome not having to spend time looking for some underwear for him just yet.

Out of the restraints and sitting, the body is wonderful getting to pose. The knees are a bit tricky and something one need to get used to, there are three grooves hidden in there which will click in place as you bend the knee, it's really quite neat making him quite the champ at holding an array of poses.

And of course, if you have a cat the first thing they do is jump into that discarded cardboard box xD

All clothed and the free pair of eyes put in place (not some he's going to keep, neither is the wig) and he's just so damn adorable! The outfit is nice enough, just don't feel like it was entirely worth the $80 pricetag as some of the materials used feels cheap and flimsy to the touch and I don't much like the plastic snaps they used. They're always almost impossible to pry open and close again, might switch them for some metal snaps instead. But the overall design of it I absolutely adore! And well, somehow, those $80 are a small price to pay compared having to have him sit naked, for who knows how long, as I am busy sewing at the moment and wouldn't have time to sew anything for him just yet.

It's really a shame with that wig, but now I've ordered up one from FMD in the same style as Norman, Jeremiah, and Theodore. Going to paint him like them as well, going for that whole porcelain doll look and he will probably also sport those long eyelashes with a few glittering rhinestones in them to top off the look.

Bonus

Because I wanted to see how they'd look sitting together. Norman's got a slightly larger head, also like how much more mature he looks compared to Angus, guessing that might change once I get him painted and in the right wig!

When you have to put current project on hold...

Tfw you have to make an entirely new dress for the upcoming con because of space limits which I hadn’t read about -_-* Perhaps my own fault, perhaps they should have repeatedly made one aware, just glad my friend told me about it! Going to make yet a crinoline, undergarments, petticoat, dress, jacket and a bonnet for my DF-A Bach/DC hybrid. Go big or go home man! xD At least I have about 2 months to finish it all, sad thing is I will have to put my current project on hold for now, but what else can I do when I refuse to do anything simple for a display competition.

Jacket - wip

Got a second mockup of the jacket made today that actually fit pretty well, only needs to be taken in a bit more in the sides, bigger holes for the sleeves, and need to add a bit more to the width of the bottom of the jacket.
First I wasn’t sure about adding the pleats, but that was before I could see how it would actually look. Going to bend the edge down as I find it looks too messy like this.
To hide the ribbon in the back I have a big bow, made from that flowery fabric, laying around that will cover it all up nicely.
This project is getting more and more exciting, damn!

Main skirt - fin!

Had a few busy days celebrating Christmas with my family and thus didn't get any sewing done. Didn't get to sew a whole lot today either, or well, I did, just didn't feel like it as it was a lot of sameness. Anywho.

Before the holidays I had made a fuckton of pleats. Did have enough fabric for it (yay!) so began pleating around 8m of fabric to turn it into some 2,64m in the end.

Then, today, I finally got the pleats attached along with the pearl and lace trim. Looks a lot better with those pleats beneath it, looked so off when just by itself.

And because The pleats screamed for something more I added some, I really can't remember what this kind of lace is called, lace where I could pull some ribbon through and tie some bows along the way.

See, isn't that a lot better now? I absolutely love how this looks! Wish I had my stand home, ordered one up as it got ridiculous getting him to stand and not worry that he'd fall face first. Then it'd be much easier shooting full pictures, but hey, I will do a crazy photo session once I've gotten everything sewn, you can bet your sweet ass I will!
Now I just have to reach an agreement with myself over how to do the jacket. I'm really all over the place, have tons of ideas, but nothing really seems to be entirely just right. All I know is that it'll get to have these grand sleeves like the BtSSB Robe a la Francaise bjd dress I've got and then, well, thinking I might have the jacket be somewhat long and shaped somewhat like the dress at the hem. Definitely going to be decorated with little pleats and that lace and pearl trim and the neck will most likely be wide but not overly deep. I'll see tomorrow, might have a clearer picture of what I actually want then.

Main skirt - wip

Got the main skirt sewn together today! Almost finished, just need a bit of decoration along the edge else I don't think I will do much more to it. Have a feeling that with the flowery print a ton of details will just make it a big ol' mess to look at.

Anywho.

Got the patterns laid out yesterday and got them all cut out today, then pinned them all together and it was off to the sewing machine!

After about an hour of sewing I ended up with this:

Still plenty to sew yet! Went to work on the waistband, a lot of pleats later and I was about ready to attach it.

After that I absolutely HAD to see it on, and I wasn't disappointed!

Like just look at that! Almost doesn't need any decoration at all, well, had I had enough fabric left  I would have made a pleated ruffle all along the edge (need some for the jacket, not much, but enough for me not to have several meters for pleats).

Had to take some of the length off, but not too much, about 2cm was all fine considering I will make a pair of shoes with a bit of heel on them. I just want it to touch the floor rather than not.

Having hemmed the edge I pinned some lace on, not sure if I will keep it or not, kind of looks out of place to me.

I will figure it out I'm sure, but yeah, it just doesn't feel quite right. So with that, I will probably not do any updates before next week (which really annoys me), so see you then!

Next up: finishing skirt, start making patterns/sew jacket.

SD Sized Petticoat - fin

I started sewing this almost a week ago now, and today I finally finished it. Took quite some time and perhaps I should have found an actual pattern for the various pieces, but I didn't. In any case, here's a little walkthrough of the various steps.

Started out with the bottom pieces, a row of ruffles and a piece of fabric underneath. Little over 3m of ruffles had to be attached on a 1,5m long piece of fabric.

As I found the fabric a bit barren just like than I chose to add some lace.

And a bit of ribbon. I know you wont see the petticoat, but I like the little details here and there.

Sewing the waistband was a tricky part. Think mainly because the pattern I used was fit for a round crinoline cage. Actually did sew one on there but ended up having to remove part of it and re-do it. Was too big, and we can't have that. Also had to remove some of the fabric as there is a lot of it, reason for all of those pleats. Part of me kind of wants to take it apart again and have the pleats near the back be layered differently. Kind of.

And there you have it in it's entire glory. It's truly something!

Next up: Main dress (skirt and jacket)
