DoA Triathlon 2019 🥉

For the first time in all of my years on DoA I participated in the forum celebrations. The theme for the first challenge sparked an idea and I had the time as well, usually work would get in the way of things - but not this time around!

Round one we were to create a wig from out of nontraditional materials. I went through all of my bits and pieces and had plenty of mulberry flowers laying around, so why not use those? Added quartz points, mulberry leaves, little pine cones, metal leaves and pearl string into the mix and this was the final result.

The wig was built on top of a hard cap and used plenty of hot glue for all of those flowers!

Second challenge was to make an outfit that would match the wig. I didn't want it to be at all practical, I wanted it to be something entirely useless for every day wear. Had some stretchy green soft tulle that I used for the main outfit, some "dragon scale" pleather for the arm guards, soles of the sandals, and the belt. Decorated with some more flowers and little swarovski crystals and ribbon, also made a bracelet that's being worn on the left arm.

Used some silver chain to attack that leaf "necklace" to the shirt with.

The bracelet, a rose atop some small bits of black quartz, underneath is a bracelet made from metal leaves.

I know you didn't have to make shoes, but to me it would have looked weird if he had been barefoot, so had to make some shoes of a sort.

The third and last challenge was a diorama, their "Grand Entrance". I wanted to create the feel of an old forest so went out and gathered moss covered branches and twigs which i then decorated with even more Mulberry flowers, leaf trim, pearl string and quartz points here and there. I had some fun with encasing walnut shells in concrete to make a sort of patio with a few stepping stones laid into the middle to make a path way. Used some old wall paper for the background and coffee grinds for topsoil.

My pretty little elf making his grand entrance! Only thing I'd wish for was for the diorama to be twice as big, but when you don't have the space you make do.

I was lucky enough to win 3rd place with my entry, I can't really believe it, is really cool though! That out of all those other entries, entries I found way cooler than mine, I was in the top tier. Goes to show sometimes you're simply lucky.
